Encounter: Meeting Points on Buffalo Bayou | Gravel Silos |

Encounter: Meeting Points on Buffalo Bayou was an event launched on the banks of Buffalo Bayou in Houston's East sector, where six different sites were activated with temporary public installations for community engagement. The gravel silos are four concrete cylinders built in the late 1900s to store construction materials, or aggregates of concrete, such as sand, gravel, shells, and cement. At this site, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about Buffalo Bayou and experience the themes of ecology, community, history as related to the bayou, through interpretive and interactive beacons made of repurposed oil barrels that highlight the industrial past of this and the other "Encounter sites."
